Cycling Acheivements

Lifetime cycling events: 1978 Rock 64 tour, 1979 Oktoberfest century tour, 2005: Iron Crotch 60 tour, Shell Lake race, 2006: Cascade Classic, Big Ring Flyers Time Trial Challenge, Greenwood Dairy Days, Cleghorn Harvest Fest, Autumn Trek Century tour.
2006 racing summary: This year had it's ups and downs. Of the 4 events, two were :) and two :|. Starting with the Cascade Classic; the race was going well after surviving some hills along the way then at 15 miles of the 40 total I was dropped from the main field on a short steep hill. Then to top it off at the 20 mile mark I flatted and watched quite a few riders sail past me. With the help (and compressed air) of a corner marshall I was able to continue and finish with some cooperative help over the last 10 miles. Then next day I was pleasantly suprised with a ride of almost 21 mph for the 19 mile TT in Hudson ;). A month later in Greenwood I sprinted to a 21st place that was only 2.3 seconds off the win, very exciting. That was a goal I was working for :) Then came the season's finale at Cleghorn. It was classified as a flat course but the hills were something to be concerned about. My hopes were to be with the main field till the second pass through the hilly section but I fell off the pace as we finished up on the first time through of the two lap circuit. Alas, lessons learned in my first year in competition.

OUCH!!!

I Crashed at Osceola's Cascade Classic on June 2nd, 2007. I crossed over the wheel ahead of me for just an inch, then everything went south. We were group of four that just cleared the prime hill for the second time, as we resumed our paceline. I was drifting back from my bad eye side to good eye side and saw someting wrong. I tried to hold it but I oversteered and I rolled over on my left shoulder. The big damage is a broken collarbone (clavicle). The road rash on back, hip, elbow actualy hurt the most over thext 6 days till surgery. I was memded back up on Friday June 8th at 1:00 and back home 4:30 same day. The road rash on my outer knee has finaly filled in a month later.

I underwent eye surgery on April 3, 2007 to have a "Scelerol Buckle" and "Pneumatic Retinopexy" procedure to the right eye. This was related to a basketball incedent in previous month, but a recent 3 hour bike ride brought on a reduced field of vision. The next day I saw two eye doctors and had the procedure done the next day. The first week of recovery looked like this.
